About your Childs eyes
Children’s eyes undergo rapid changes throughout their development, meaning that any vision problems can quickly worsen. Children are also surrounded by a visually-demanding environment at school, home and in their free time, meaning their eye health must be taken care of. Early intervention is crucial to keep young eyes healthy and focussing on the future.

It is recommended that children have their first full eye examination before starting primary school. At Carrum Downs Eyecare we see children of any age and for a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:

Vision Screenings
A Vision screening is a brief assessment to determine whether or not a full eye exam is required. Our friendly Optometrist will evaluate your child's visual acuity and check eye movements, on a pass/fail grading.
As your local family Optometrist, Carrum Downs Eyecare also offers services to local kindergartens and primary school for Vision Screenings. We welcome educators to contact us to arrange a screening or for further information.
*To be eligible for bulk billing children must be 12 years of age and under. Applies to new and existing patients, for all consultations excluding vision therapy and contact lens appointments.
